Yoga? Are you crazy? Why not just wear a T-Shirt that says "I
exercise with demons".
i have been considering learning yoga for a few years now, but i am not sure how to go about it.
i don't really have the money for a class right now, and most of the books i have found are either extremely expensive or not really for beginners.
can anyone make any suggestions?

i am due in the middle of october and my husband and i cannot come up with a name.
i almost had him sold on venus, until he asked people at work what they thought and he got wierd looks.
i wanted to name the last baby sidney, but let him name her because he has never gotten a chance to name a kid before.
This is a true story about a baby name. In 1970 Nathan Knorr, then
president of the WTS returned to Bethel from a South Pacific trip.
At the breakfast table he told us of a Hawaiian JW couple who named
their newborn infant "Nathan Knorr (last name)". I would guess that
these poor people were really counting on Armageddon coming in 1975.
The kid would now be a 32 year old man. I'd rather be called "Sue".
what is the society's view on internet use?
i get the impression it is discouraged.. i also ask because the society over the years have had a love hate relationship with technology, extolling it's virtues one minute (such as in their early use of colour film and portable record players), and then blaming it for many of todays ills.. interestingly, i just found a section in the proclaimers book, stating that the staffing levels at watchtower construction sites around the globe had been reduced by using modern technology, while other articles suggest that technology is an evil in that it will put people out of jobs.. p.s.
i only have literature up to 1995, but the number of references to technology in awake!

someone reported in another thread that ray franz has grown concerned that his books have not helped those who have read them because it left them with nowhere to go.
i'm reminded of a phrase that i heard repeatedly during my 30 years as a watchtower toady.
"if this isn't the truth, then there is no truth".
Someone reported in another thread that Ray Franz has grown concerned that his books have not helped those who have read them because it left them with nowhere to go. I'm reminded of a phrase that I heard repeatedly during my 30 years as a Watchtower toady. . . "If this isn't the truth, then there is no truth". This serves nicely to frighten Witnesses into line, but it is certainly a meaningless statement to one who has discerned that the Watchtower teachings are not "truth". It isn't Ray Franz responsibility as a person to point us in any direction at all. His responsibility was to provide us with the facts he knew about a dishonest and corrupt religion. What most of us have discovered since leaving the organization is the freshness and vitality of finding our own way in the universe of ideas, philosophies and beliefs.
Many former Witnesses have become pastors in mainstream religions. Many have become agnostics and athiests. Some have probably become members of other cults. So be it. At least they have been freed from the Watchtower lie.
Some have stated that we shouldn't treat Ray Franz with gratitude because he was afterall, at one time, part of the group that had deceived us. Well, Mr. Franz may have been just as deceived as the rest of us were for a great part of his life. We could certainly take the same attitude toward someone who has served as an elder and participated in lording it over others or the disfellowshipping of others but has now left the organization. To do so would seem to me to be a huge waste of emotion and time.
I realize that many of you have a great deal to lose by letting current Witnesses know of your so-called apostasy. Because of that, many of you still attend meetings and put on the facade of being a JW. I understand that. Some of you who honestly loved your fellow Witnesses are hoping that somehow the organization will reform itself and become more mainstream. While I don't believe it will happen, I can understand your hopefulness. For those of you with one foot still in, I must tell you that the freedom awaiting you when you make a final break from the organization will more than offset any personal relationships that you may lose. You must do things in your way and time, but fear not.
persecution: sometime around late 1973 early 1974, when jws everywhere were in eager anticipation of armageddon breaking out, we also feared something else.
prior to armageddon, there would be the great tribulation, and just about this time we expected heavy persecution, so much so, that is was hard to help bible studies (newbies) to get over this fear.. service meeting part: during a service meeting, the elder giving the part was speaking about such persecution and of course all this was prefaced with our obedience to jehovah and his organization, doing all the works, meetings, etc.
.... ... as he spoke, there was suddenly loud banging on all of our entry-exit doors.
I seem to remember the Rev. Jim Jones used to have similar drills in his church. We know that at the appropriate time, his followers knew exactly what to do. Practice makes perfect.

i'm curious about what the tattooed among us think.
why are you confident that you will be glad you have your tattoo ten or twenty years from now?
I NEED INPUT!
I've been thinking of commissioning the creation of an apostate T-shirt.
One idea was to have a picture on the back of children and people being swallowed up by an earthquake (from a WT publication) with the caption, THE END IS NEAR. On the front you could have something about APOSTATES or if you're really feeling "in your face", something about EVIL SLAVE!. Let me know your ideas.
i was driving down the street the other day and seen a sign for a store the sign read.. "kocks liquor" .
i immediately had visions rolling about my head.

I don't have any tatoos either, but I have been considering putting a
sharp bone through my nasal septum and stretching out my lower lip
until it hits the top of my chest. Tattoos are just too common now.
It's like anything else, once over 25% of the population get them,
they're not cool anymore. I, on the other hand, like to be a leader
of fads and the nose bone and stretched lip will certainly make me
avant garde.
hi i've just come home from cleaning windows.what an absolutely soul destroying job.. when i think of the things i could have done.. i remmember how my teachers in school used to tell me i would surely go to university and get a good job.i remmember the shock on one teachers face a few years after i left school when i told her i was a window cleaner.. i was also intrested in art and quite good at it.my grandfather who wasn't a witness offered to help me and my brother get good jobs in the art world.. we turned him down.. arrmegeddon was so soon.. anyone else like me ?.
what do you do and what could you have done?
I'm rather shocked at the unkind response to sleepy's post about a life of manual labor stemming from the fact that the borg drilled into young Witness heads that college was not only a waste of time due to the shortness of time, but would put dangerous ideas into ones head. Where did we get so many frigging psychologists?
I knew a Witness man in Missouri who at age 65 was on a ladder painting houses for a living, fell from the ladder and was afterwards disabled until he died. Why was he painting houses at age 65? Because he didn't plan for his retirement. And why didn't he plan for his retirement? Because the EVIL organization told him he wouldn't have to worry about growing old in this system of things. College wasn't going to help him and many others in his situation.
Sure, many of us went through college as adults after leaving the organization. We gave up time with our families and friends evenings and weekends to catch up to where we should have been in our early and mid twenties. Why? Because the EVIL organization told us that planning a career was nothing to worry about with the end so near. Am I angry about this? You bet your sweet ass I'm angry about it. Does being angry change anything? No it doesn't. But if I can help just one young person who is or is thinking about becoming a JW to reconsider wasting their life on it and staying in school, then perhaps some good will come from it. I have about 10 nieces and nephews who have no future except manual labor due to their lack of higher education. It's sad and it really pisses me off.
